About

UmmaHacks is a virtual hackathon that took place in Summer 2020. Join us and hundreds of other students at the next UmmaHacks to bring your creative ideas to life - everyone is welcome!

UmmaHacks seeks to empower individuals through technology to create solutions to better the world. We’ll provide resources, mentorship, and everything else you'll need. There will be plenty of time to partake in workshops, tech talks, and many other activities planned throughout our events.

The UmmaHacks virtual hackathon project is made possible by the partnership between UmmaHacks and MCA Youth. Check out MCA Youth here.

FAQ

What is a hackathon?

At a hackathon, attendees work collaboratively to create tech projects from the initial idea all the way to the finished product.

Don’t know how to code?

No prior experience necessary! UmmaHacks welcomes anybody to come learn and build with us! We provide beginner workshops and mentors to help you build something you can be excited about.

Can I participate without being a hacker?

Yes! We have a form below to become a mentor for UmmaHacks. Mentors help out with technical and logistical problems hackers face when developing their projects!

Who can participate?

Any high school, college (undergrad and grad) students as well as young professionals can apply to UmmaHacks!

What do I need to participate?

A computer, an internet connection, and a desire to build something AWESOME!

How do teams work?

Teams can be up to 4 people large. Every member on the team must individually submit an application (have your members apply ASAP to maximize your chances!). We’ll also host team matching sessions if you don’t have a team prior!

Mentors

Many students attend hackathons with no prior experience. Mentors help brainstorm ideas and answer any question that hackers may have during the course of the event.
